Please note: GFI/GFCI stands for Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter and these are the plugs with the little buttons on the outlet. You will learn about the operation of GFI/GFCI plugs at your Home Owner Orientation. You will also be reminded of this at your First Warranty Appointment.
These protected plugs are installed by and near water sources so that if water was get in or on these plugs, the power would automatically be cut to the plug protecting you from potential electrocution. In wet areas such as kitchens, baths and ensuites, the plug would also be cut from the room as well as the outlet too. These plugs may also be connected to more than one outlet.
To reset the circuit, make sure the area is absolutely dry, all appliances on the circuit have been unplugged and ready to be turned on again. There is a reset button on the middle of the plug (or on the main plug of the wet area room since all plugs in these spaces may be on the same circuit). Simply press the reset button and the power will be restored again as long as the safety concern is no longer present.
