How and When Do I Change My Furnace Filter?
Your furnace filter location is at the front of your furnace, and you need to have a brand new furnace filter before attempting this. Slide the cover strip over and remove the filter. Once you have done so, discard the filter and slide the cover strip back to its original position.
Your Warranty team recommends that you don't use re-usable furnace filters as they are built thicker and can clog very quickly. As a result, this can end up overheating and shutting off your furnace.
For the first year of living in your new Excel home, we recommend changing your filter every month when living in an active construction zone which can emite more particulates and/or dust in the air.
After the first year, replacing your furnace filter every three months is adequate.
Why Did My Furnace Shut Off in the Winter and How Do I Fix It?
Seasonal changes such as snow and ice can bring some undesirable consequences to the performance of the functional components in your home. During the days of cold weather, condensation that is in the intake system can freeze or get blocked resulting in the furnace to shut off.
If this happens, go outside and check your intake system pipe. If it is blocked, remove any snow and/or ice that might have formed around the pipe. Once it's cleared, go back inside and switch the furnace switch back on to start up your furnace again.
