Possession dates are not a direct indicator of the order for completion of landscaping and exterior home work. Homes are completed street by street in communities for efficiency and scheduling reasons. As per the contract, exact dates cannot be specified or pre-booked due to unpredictable weather conditions. Our contract states that the seasonal work will be completed within 12 months of possession.
Landscaping or Exterior work (also known as Seasonal work) usually begins after May Long weekend, but this is all weather dependent. If you have further questions about your Seasonal work, please contact our Seasonals departments at:
- seasonals@excelhomes.ca (for Calgary and Area)
- edmonton-seasonals@excelhomes.ca (for Edmonton)
From here, you will be provided with an update on what stage of seasonal work your community and/or area are currently undergoing. This contact will always provide you with the most up to date information.
Each communities developer has predetermined the required landscaping for each property, you can learn more about your communities developer requirements on our community pages.
At Excel Homes, we do not have any seasonal monetary holdbacks when you take possession of your new home.
When water restrictions are placed on our industry by cities or municipalities we are unable to complete the sod installation at your home. This is because it is crucial to note that sod installation requires daily watering for the first 10 days to ensure its survival as it is a live product. Following this initial period, weekly watering is usually adequate.
More information can be found on our Seasonals information page and in your Purchase Agreement and Schedule L home documents.
We recommend you read our Seasonal Checklists on homeowner maintenance that should be maintained throughout the year to further protect your investment.
