Summer Checklist

In the Summer times, we know you will be anxious to have your seasonal maintenance items addressed. Please exercise some patience as it may take well into the summer to complete these items to keep your home operating properly and looking great!

 

INTERIOR:

  • Test smoke alarms & carbon monoxide detectors
  • Check & reset ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) plugs in bathrooms & main electrical panel
  • Air out damp basements on dry, sunny days; run ventilation fans to reduce indoor humidity
  • Check heat recovery ventilator (HRV); ensure to clean filters every 3 – 6 months or as required
  • Clean range hood filter; as per the manufactures guidelines
  • Check caulking for cracking, and detachment (e.g. tiles, showers & counters)
  • Inspect doors & locks for good working condition

 

EXTERIOR:

  • Check exterior wood surfaces for deterioration; re-finish wood surfaces including window frames & doors
  • Check roof flashing, valleys & vents (may require a professional)
  • Check for missing or damaged shingles (may require a professional)
  • Wash & seal driveway as per product recommendations and weather
  • Check caulking for security, cracking, and detachment (e.g. pipes and external damage/ tears)
  • Air intake should never be covered
