Once your home has received its new sod, please make sure you follow these lawn care recommendations from our trusted landscaping partners.

Watering:

When the installation is complete, your new sod should be watered immediately. Watering should continue daily, preferably in the morning and evening, until the sod is soaked through. Duration depends on weather conditions, but do not let the sod dry out. If the ground is soggy underfoot, it is generally wet enough. Avoid walking on freshly-laid sod to prevent depressions and gaps.

Be sure that you have a sprinkler and hose to saturate your new lawn on the day of installation. It is a live product and will not survive without water. Water 1 hour per day initially to all areas.

Fertilization:

Your sod has been fertilized at the farm and will not require any fertilizer until several weeks after installation. A slow-release product containing nitrogen, phosphate and potassium in the Spring and fall will help promote a healthy lawn.

Mowing and Trimming:

The lawn should never be cut too short. The first cut should be left a little higher. Frequency depends on growth but avoid leaving it too long.
